A couple of weeks ago I tried a new style and brand of condensed soup. On one of our shopping trips to the Commissary, Hubby spotted a condensed soup that came in a box. Me, being me, my interest was peeked. I had to try it. So, I picked up three of these small boxes - two cream of mushroom and one cream of chicken. They were unpacked into my pantry to be used the next time I pulled out one of my recipes that called for the infamous cream of something soup.
That time came the day after New Years. I set out to try a new recipe, more on that tomorrow, that called for cream of chicken soup. Perfect! Now was my chance to try out my little box of Pacific Natural Foods Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup. I was impressed!
- First and foremost - This soup actually smelled like chicken!
- Let me back up a step, the box is easy open, and actually opens they way they tell you it will.
- Once opened the first thing I noticed was the rich fragrance of roasted chicken.
- Next I saw, yes saw, bits of real chicken in the creamy liquid the box contained
- Yes, you read right - liquid, that poured easily out of the 12 ounce box.
- Creamy, ivory in color - like what you would expect from a homemade cream of chicken soup
- Now for the flavor - tastes like chicken! I used it to make a gravy for a dish we had for dinner and it was creamy and perfect - not salty and gelatinous.
- I would also like to point out that I can pronounce EVERY one of the ingredients this little box contains.
My over all review of this product is 5 stars. I will be adding more Pacific Natural Food Soups to my pantry. Move over canned soups - there's a new soup in town. This fits perfectly into our new year goals of eating healthier. If you're in the market for a healthier condensed soup I strongly recommend this product.

Well it seems that Safeway has these. I think I will have to see which flavors they carry and how they are priced. Anything to avoid the dreaded (and salty) Campbells.
